Thomas Hinterseer
Managing Director

Thomas obtained his Law degree in Austria in 1987, and a Masters in Law from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, European Community Law section.

Thomas worked for Schlumberger (Sedco Forex, Dowell, Anadrill and Geco Prakla) as General Counsel in Singapore and Paris (1990 -1997), as Director of  Marketing for Schlumberger Sedco Forex (1997 - 2001), based in Paris and Houston. After the merger of Sedco Forex with Transocean, he served as General Manager for the Egypt and Mediterranean Area from 2001 to 2003 based in Cairo, and from 2004 to 2007 as Managing Director of the Gulf of Guinea/West Africa Division, based in Nigeria. 

From 2008 to 2013 he held different senior positions in HR, including at the Transocean Corporate Headquarters in Geneva, and was an Officer of Transocean for 4 years. Thomas was involved from the broader HR perspective in the follow-up of the Macondo Accident.

Subsequently he was overseeing the sale of 37 Drilling rigs to Shelf Drilling  in 2013 and early 2014.

He currently is the Managing Director of CEDEP, an Executive Education Club, running also Leadership and Safety seminars/workshops. 

Ravi SHANKAR
ACADEMIC DIRECTOR

Ravi is passionate about ‘making a difference’ through Leadership Development. He believes that self-aware, humane leaders are key to an equitable and sustainable world.

At its best, leadership development nudges participants to see newer possibilities and act on them. Ravi is convinced that the most impactful solutions are rooted in the everyday reality of organisations. To make this happen, he works closely with client teams to co-create offerings that improve team effectiveness, develop leadership and build organization capability. Ravi’s current focus is CEDEP LiVE (Learning in a Virtual Environment), which brings CEDEP’s 50 year long depth in growing leaders online through engaging blended learning offerings. 

Before joining CEDEP, Ravi spent over a year as an independent consultant working with clients in Asia & Europe on their Business Transformation and Talent Management challenges. His consulting work sharply focused on driving Business outcomes, with the belief that any process or programme is as good as the results it delivers.

Prior to that, Ravi held multiple roles with the $45bn Indian conglomerate - Aditya Birla Group. Over a decade long career, he worked closely with senior executives across the group’s 15 SBUs and corporate functions on leadership development, talent management and organization capability improvement.

Ravi holds an MBA in Human Resources from the XLRI School of Management Jamshedpur (India) and is a Computer Science Engineer from IIIT Hyderabad (India).

Muriel PAILLEUX
Sales, Marketing & Communication Director

Muriel’s dedication and enthusiasm for people development has extended her career across continents. Although, it has always been in education, where she is able to combine her marketing and business development skills with her sociological background to help people and companies grow through leadership development and cross-cultural programmes.

In 2017, she joined CEDEP to establish and lead their Sales department. This role expanded to include establishing and directing the Marketing and Communication Departments in 2019. As CEDEP’s main client interface, she is also in charge of developing and maintaining Member Partnerships for Multi-Company Programmes.

Previously, Muriel headed Customer Relationships at FL&C before becoming Global Account Director and Business Developer. In this position, she established their new Singapore branch and collaborated with INSEAD Business School for 13 years to create, manage and develop their MBA Language Programme on the Fontainebleau and Singapore campuses.

Prior to that, she worked as the Linguistics Attachée for the French Embassy in Quito to develop partnerships with the Ecuadorian Education Ministry. She was also able to pursue her educational passion through organising and teaching at cultural seminars on intercultural differences and promoting international relations with France, which she did for the Embassy, the Pontifical University of Ecuador, the Alliance Française in Mexico and Lyon, and for the Lyon Université Catholique. She also taught French for foreigners. 

Muriel’s speciality is in using her overseas experience and anthropological understanding to develop businesses and help find creative and tailor-made solutions for local and international customers.

She has a Master’s Degree in Marketing Management, Business Development & Strategy from the HEC Paris Business School, a Master’s Degree in Educational Cooperation & Intercultural Relations from Lyon 2 University, and a Master’s Degree in Anthropology from Bordeaux University.

Muriel Larvaron
Insights and Partnerships Director

Muriel joined CEDEP in 2018 to reinforce the academic initiative and develop new projects at CEDEP. She brings with her experience in executive education and project management pertaining to research and international development programmes.  Before joining CEDEP, she worked for more than 20 years at INSEAD, alongside senior academics to support their work on topics central to building a better business world.

Among her achievements were launching and managing several Centres of Excellence at INSEAD, on Sustainability in the 90s, and more recently on Corporate Governance, aiming at equipping board members with insights needed to ensure long-term vision and value creation. In five years, the centre trained more than 800 directors and executives on seven international board programmes, developed partnerships with the Institute of Directors and launched the International Directors Network.

Muriel also participated in the research on Strategic Agility. She managed the publication of Doz and Kosonen’s book “Strategic Agility: how to stay ahead of the game” and subsequent marketing and conferences.  She was assistant to the Chair of the 2005 conference Academy of International Business in Quebec and received an award in appreciation of her work from the AIB Executive Board.

MOHSEN ABDEL FATTAH
Head of international Business Development

Mohsen is passionate about creating relationships and building bridges between generations of leaders. He believes in the importance of promoting diversity and accountability in companies’ Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance.

He joined CEDEP in 2020 as the Head of Business Development to manage new member and partnership acquisition. Mohsen brings 15 years of international sales management experience with a deep understanding of ESG and corporate partnership development. He’s also delivered workshops that help companies co-create and launch new products and services. As a result, he believes that startups and corporations can co-create innovative solutions to current issues.

Before joining CEDEP, Mohsen worked in Berlin’s innovation ecosystem, building partnerships between technology startups and large European corporations as well as developing go-to market strategies. Prior to that, he spent 10 years advising institutional investors and corporations on the topics of investor relations and ESG.

He holds a Master of Science in Finance from the ISC Paris Business School (France) and is fluent in French, English, German and Arabic.

Stéphane HOUOT
Secretary General

Stéphane likes action and challenges. Although originally a Chartered Accountant and Statutory Auditor, and having worked many years in the corporate field, Stéphane’s real preference is being on the ground in human-sized organisations where he can use his vast people, operational and finance skills to truly make a difference to the company culture and its impact on society.

His multidimensional skills and flexibility from working in a variety of industries in France, Germany and Belgium, took him to CEDEP in 2012, where he is now the General Secretary, in charge of operations, finance, personnel, administration and campus management.

Previously, Stéphane worked as an auditor at E & Y, then in various corporate functions for the major communication group Havas. His adaptability then took him to field and operational management positions in press, TV, transportation and radio advertising (RTL), and finally to street furniture and billboard companies, among them JCDecaux and Clear Channel.

His varied and multi-country experiences have enabled him to understand the challenges of both public and private companies across industries.

Stéphane’s specialties are organisational efficiency through finance and transversal, multi-cultural team management.

He also has a Masters in Executive Management from SBS.
