Joe Tabet is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer at INSEAD. He joined INSEAD in 1993 to launch the Healthcare Management Initiative (HMI). His initial research was in the area of managing services, focusing on the complex aspects of managing professional organisations (healthcare, consulting etc.) more specifically addressing the challenging aspects of improving the quality of services.
Since 1995, his research focused on the strategic implications of new IT and communication technologies and their implications on creating new business opportunities, both within and outside companies: innovation opportunities offered by emerging technologies. The success of such opportunities being closely linked to managing change, the organisational aspects were also addressed as part of the innovation process.
Joe has written several case studies and articles, developed web-based interactive modules. He also taught a very innovative MBA course on entrepreneurship, based on real projects supported by a community of learning. He currently teaches an executive training module on Managing Change and Creativity in various executive education programs. The course is based on a computer simulation “The EIS Simulation” and includes group work and case studies.
Besides his academic work, Joe has contributed to the launch and development of several companies, among which GorillaPark, the leading incubator of technology start-ups in Europe. He now dedicates most of his time to actively coaching entrepreneurs.
Joe holds a doctorate of medicine from Beirut University, a degree in surgery from the University of Paris, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD.
